Tommi Laukkanen from Substance of code, who bought us Twimgo, NewsFlow and recently the kids game DoodleDrive, is at it again and has just released his latest Qt app for the N900 and Symbian ^3 handsets – Kasvopus, a Facebook client written in Qt Quick, QML.

The iPod/Phone/Android style Facebook app is in its early stages and has a limited set of features which allow you to:

- Browse your recent news feed
- Share status
- Like or comment users statuses
- Open shared links in your phone browser

Interesting app and we can see a lot of potential especially that there is no other dedicated Facebook app currently for these platforms on the matket. There are some requirements though for this app to work on your Symbian^3 device, you will have to upgrade your Qt version to 4.7.2 and Qt WebKit 4.7.2 first for Kasvopus to run – as it is used for Facebook authentication view. Below we have added the links for you to download directly and install via Nokia Ovi Suite.

- Qt 4.7.2 (Bear in mind that this is still a “developer” version and might cause unexpected behavior on your N8)
- Qt Webkit 4.7.2
- Qt Mobility 1.1.1

Kasvopus download links: Maemo N900 (.deb)Symbian^3 devices (.sis) – MeeGo to follow soon.

Oh and in case you were wondering, Kasvopus is a combination of two Finnish words – Kasvo = Face and Opus = Book, thus Facebook.
