The 8th Finnish-Russian Cooperation in Telecommunications (FRUCT) Conference takes place this week, Nov. 9-12 in Lappeenranta, Finland. The conference consists of two and a half days of scientific and educational presentations with hands-on training on the MeeGo platform, Smart-M3 platform, and Platform Security.
These FRUCT seminars occur twice a year, alternating between Russia and Finland with representatives from more than ten universities in both countries, plus industry experts from Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks that take active part in the seminars program.
Nokia Research Center members will be giving various lectures during the conference, including:
- Monitoring of mobile devices energy consumption & Contest rules- Gerard Bosch, NRC, Finland
- Smart-M3 Open Source – J. Honkola, NRC, Finland
- Smart Space-Driven Sustainable Logistics: Ontology and Major Components
The FRUCT seminars have dual role of both education and information sharing. The seminar program contains sessions representing the FRUCT focus areas, beginning with a lecture given by one of the top experts in the field and followed by presentation of projects done within the framework of the FRUCT program.
About FRUCT
FRUCT is an open-innovation framework for strategic R&D cooperation between industry and universities. The program was established in 2007 by Nokia Research Center, Saint-Petersburg University of Airspace Instrumentation and University of Turku and has now become the most significant and actively growing cooperation framework between leaders of ICT industry and universities in the Baltic region. The FRUCT principle is in removing cooperation entering thresholds by setting R&D projects run by students under direct joint tutoring of industrial and academic experts. The FRUCT activities are sponsored by Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks.
